When it came time to design the bench for California, I knew I had to think outside the box. Simply shaping the bench like the state of California felt too ordinary for a place as iconic and vibrant as the Golden State. As I contemplated the design, inspiration struck: What if the legendary Hollywood sign could serve as the foundation for the bench seat?
The Creative Process: Making Hollywood Shine
Of course, the Hollywood sign wasn’t naturally the right shape to support a bench seat. But with a bit of creativity and some clever adjustments, I managed to align the famous letters perfectly under the bench, creating a unique and visually striking piece.

The most eye-catching feature of this bench is, without a doubt, the Hollywood sign. This iconic landmark is recognized worldwide and instantly evokes the glamour and excitement of the entertainment industry. The sign serves as the sturdy support for the bench, making it not just functional but also a statement piece that celebrates California’s cultural heritage.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
To add another layer of Hollywood magic, the top of the bench features a nod to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Adorning the bench seat are several “movie star” stars, bringing the glamour of Tinseltown right to your property. In real life, each star symbolizes the countless celebrities who have contributed to Hollywood’s legacy, making this bench a tribute to the stars of the silver screen.
On my bench, I put labelled the starts with Blurry, Beast, KaCiao. KaCiao is my Upland username. That’s a story for another day.
